What the numbers mean
Kp is how strong the aurora activity is, 0–9. This far north, Kp 2 is often enough to see something on a clear night; Kp 4 and up can fill the sky. What matters more is cloud — the lights are always up there, the question is whether you can see them.
Nobody can promise the Northern Lights. What improves your odds: more nights, a guide who drives to the clear sky, and staying away from town lights. The Arctic Aurora Hunter below does exactly that — some nights it's above the kennel, some nights it's a 200 km round trip.

Pickup is included
Every activity collects you from central Kiruna hotels — Camp Ripan, Arctic Eden, Elite Hotel, Camp Alta — and from the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. You get your exact pickup time by message before the tour. Staying elsewhere? Tell us and we confirm the nearest point.
What to wear
We provide the Arctic outer layer: overalls, winter boots, mitts, hats and socks. Underneath, wear the warmest comfortable clothes you own — base layers and thick socks. Dressing takes about 20 minutes; the dogs keep you company meanwhile.
How the days fit together
Three slots a day: morning (10:00), afternoon (14:00) and evening (18:00 or 19:00). Any morning + afternoon, or daytime + evening, works in one day. The Aurora Hunter ends around midnight, so pick an afternoon tour for the next day.
Ages and who can come
- Daytime husky tours, snowshoe and ice fishing: from age 6.
- Aurora Hunter: from age 10 — a long, cold evening.
- Driving your own sled: a capable 15–16 year old, judged by the guides on the day.
- Pregnant guests can't sled — the ride jolts more than it looks.
Cold, snow and refunds
Tours run in the cold — that's the point — and the clothing handles it. If SMHI forecasts below −30 °C for your tour day you can cancel for a full refund or move the date, whatever the notice. Cancel more than 7 days ahead for a full refund (less a small admin fee); packages have their own 60-day ladder on the booking page.
